Cable Trail - Fall Creek Falls State Park

Can I just say I love a challenging trail? Sure it's nice when you have a short trail that ends with a beautiful view, but when I am hiking and reach a trail I have to crawl down because it's steep, that's when I am really excited! I have to admit that it took way too long to go down the cable trail at FCF State Park. I looked at it often but due to time restraints, had to pass it by many times. Finally, we found a day and went just to go on the cable trail! The bottom is incredibly beautiful and you can see both Cane Creek Falls and Rockhouse Falls!

You can get to the top of the cable trail by taking the PawPaw trail. The cable trail itself is very short however it's very challenging (out and back trail). If you take your time and watch every step, you'll be just fine going up and down. If you are not too fond of heights this trail will definitely have you second-guessing as you go down. Try to push past that feeling though because being at the bottom is breathtaking and well worth it! The cable itself I didn't find to be very helpful because on the most difficult part of the trail it's above your head/out of reach.
Once you get to the bottom of the trail, it opens up and you can see both waterfalls. It's so refreshing being at the bottom and fun to explore around on the rocks.
If you like climbing around on rocks, seeing waterfalls, and a little challenge, this trail is for you! Know your limitations though and I don't recommend it for young children or pups because of how steep the trail is. Next time we go I am definitely bringing lunch and sitting at the bottom for a while!
