Narrows of the Harpeth

This out-and-back trail is fairly easy, but it is also a wonderful trail for an afternoon full of nature and fresh air! This is a very well-traveled trail that includes a beautiful overlook. At the overlook, you will more than likely run into someone taking engagement pictures. This is a very popular place to get away from the city but also not have to travel too far.

Narrows of the Harpeth can be found in Kingston Springs, TN within Harpeth River State Park. We went in October when water levels were low and we could get some really good pictures by the man-made tunnel. This tunnel was the first-ever water diversion tunnel in the US and is a National Historic Landmark. For more information on the history of the area, check out the following link: Middle Tennessee Tourism Council

The trail to the overlook is really beautiful but it is pretty steep. Watch your step as you go up and down! Remember to take your time while hiking up to the top as it's not a very far distance. This is an easy/moderate hike for the average person. To me, it looked just like something from a fairytale and I stopped to take a lot of pictures of the trail along the way!
Once you get to the top of the overlook you will be able to see for miles over the Harpeth Valley! Watch your step though and keep a close eye on pups and kids as there is nothing between you and the edge!
This is definitely worth a trip from the city and is less than 30 miles from Nashville! For more information on the park and everything you need to know before you go, check out the State Park Website here: Harpeth River State Park
