Twin Arches - Big South Fork
Twin Arches is a place I want to go to over and over again!! A beautiful park, with something for everyone! The hike to Twin Arches is fairly easy if you don't mind staircases and the reward for doing that hike is really amazing!
The signage at Big South Fork is fantastic! You shouldn't ever have a problem with getting lost with their well-maintained and well-marked trails. The whole place is also very VERY clean, so please help keep it that way while you are adventuring.
We decided to just do the trail to the arches which is .7 miles. If you do the whole loop you're looking at over 4.5 miles of hiking. We wanted to do other adventuring that day so we enjoyed that we could have the choice of such a short trip to the Arches and back.
After we spent some time relaxing and looking around up top, we headed back to the trail to go down to the bottom. Just one staircase down and one turn then we could see the South Arch. As impressive as it is from far away, it will take your breath away when you get up close!
I didn't want to leave the South Arch and was enjoying walking around looking at the rock and the area! However, if we were going to get to the other places we were going, we had to be on our way to see the North Arch which was right around the corner.
The North Arch was just as impressive as the South Arch and I spent a long time walking around checking out how amazing the rock formation was. Both arches have their own special charm to them! The best part was we were the only ones there and had the arches to ourselves. We spent all the time we wanted snapping photos, exploring and enjoying the incredible area. However, as you all know, all good things must come to an end and it was time to head out. The trail back to the parking lot was well-marked and we made our way easily back to our car.
I cannot wait to go back here and explore more at Big South Fork! The whole area is rich with adventuring potential! **Do note this is bear country, there are warning signs all over.** We didn't see any bear while on the trail the day we went.
