Hazard Cave - Pickett CCC Memorial State Park

Talk about the coolest rock shelter around! Just a mere .25 miles from the parking lot via Hazard Cave Trail, this is one place you don't want to miss! We were exploring at nearby Big South Fork when we saw Pickett trails come up on our map. We looked up a few trails and decided we wanted to see the rock shelter. The parking area is well-marked with a large sign right off the main road. It is very small so I can imagine on a busy day it would be hard to park.

We just wanted to see the rock shelter but this is a loop trail so if you want some extra adventuring you can do the whole loop. *Do note that the trails close at sunset.*

There are some staircases then a very short, well-maintained trail that leads right to the rock shelter! We were lucky when we went and had the place to ourselves when inside the rock shelter, which was pretty cool.
Sitting inside the rock shelter in the back, I could only imagine how many people have sat inside it. Either seeking shelter or just enjoying a really amazing area. With it being so dark and quiet, it was quite the experience. I definitely enjoyed this short side trip located in Jamestown, TN. If you are traveling this is a must-see!
